lProgram Details:
The program will be run after school one day per week, through the school year. There will be on additional special event (eg. – educational tours, volunteerism opportunities) per month.
- The goal of the program is to empower junior high and high school students to bring about social change through democracy.
- Engaging Students in community involvement and volunteerism.
- Students will participate in 5 hours of volunteerism or services as election officers in the field. (eg. – Information Officers at Polling Stations).
- Iain Rankin, MLA for the electoral district of Timberlea-Prospect, has committed to putting forward a resolution recognizing the program and participating individuals, including student participants. Students will receive a certificate of recognition from the Nova Scotia House of Assembly.
The Prospect Road Youth Council is a great experience to add on a resume.
